Welcome to Monsoon Season

In this video, we took a 2-hour flight from Singapore to Jakarta, Indonesia on AirAsia for $87.20. When we arrived, we noticed some really fun cartoon artwork around the fire extinguishers in the airport – so cool and creative!

We took an Uber to our hotel (Verse Lite Hotel Gajah Mada for $22.85 for 1 night) where they had a cool bathroom door that when opened converted to the shower door – pretty unique!

After Lisa got a 20-minute power nap, we set out to explore Jakarta. They had recently had some flooding from monsoon season, but thankfully things were back to normal when we arrived.

We started our exploring at Gedung Kesenian Jakarta (an art museum), walked down to Our Lady of the Assumption Cathedral Jakarta, then the National Monument – which commemorates Indonesia’s independence from the Netherlands. Next, we continued on to the Merdeka Palace – the president’s palace, then wrapped up our building tour for the day with the National Museum as it started to rain.

Thankfully, we were able to wait out the rain for a few minutes under the cover of a bus shelter. After trying to order a Grab, Uber, or BlueBird Taxi, we eventually decided to walk 2k to our hotel.
