Travel Date // September 22, 2017

This was bound to happen at some point…

People here in Vilnius, Lithuania are sooo friendly. We love it! Today was a beautiful day and we enjoyed exploring the city. Later in the day, we run into a bit of a problem as we are about to leave for our next destination…

In this video:

  • We explore Vilnius, Lithuania…including a nice little hike up a mountain.
  • Listen to a little polka music.
  • Learn a little about a freshmen initiation that was happening while we were there.
  • Enjoy a lunch of delicious gourmet “cheese rolls”
  • Discover that we need to have a visa to travel to Belarus by bus…which we didn’t have. So we had to switch our destinations, forfeit our ticket ($28.69 for 2) and buy a Ecolines bus ticket to a different country instead ($42.26 for 2). (NOTE: You can travel to Belarus without a visa IF you arrive by airplane at the main airport in Minsk.)
  • FYI: Ecolines never did give us a refund for our tickets to Minsk, Belarus. Bummer. But at least it wasn’t a very expensive bus ticket. However, Expedia and the hotel that we had booked in Minsk DID refund us the money we had spent on our hotel, so we are very thankful for that 🙂
  • End up at a hotel in Warsaw that we think I (Peter) got bed bugs from. The hotel rooms were lightly renovated shipping containers. On Expedia, the pics of the rooms looked ok. But after this, we learned to pay a little closer attention to the reviews and make sure that the average rating was at least a 3 out of 5 stars. (In case you’re curious, the hotel we stayed at was Hotel Pracowniczy Metro, and we booked it via Expedia for $25.13 for 1 night.)
