City Exploration in Scorching Heat

It was a hot one when we were walking around Kuala Lumpur. Lisa normally takes a while to sweat, and she was sweating “bullets” today. We started at the Sri Mahamariamman Temple, then walked to the Central Market, then on to Merdeka Square – where there’s a 95m flagpole to mark the spot of the first Malaysian flag-raising.

From there, we could also see the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, which looked pretty cool, walked by St Mary’s Cathedral, meandered through another local market, found a photo spot for a tall tower, then hopped in a Grab to go explore the Kampung Baru district – where we encountered the friendliest, super fun fish sellers we’ve met yet!

Next, we went down to a large mall/shopping district – Plaza Low Yat, where we tried some grass jelly soda (not a big fan – it had chewy pieces of jello inside). While we were here, we picked up some new earbuds for Lisa.

After that, we headed to the iconic Petronas Twin Towers to meet up with one of Lisa’s family friends who just happened to also be in KL at the same time – crazy! 🙂 On the way there, we got some dinner, then stopped by Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur, which based on Peter’s research was the best place to get a sweet picture of the towers. The towers and the fountain light show at night were definitely worth seeing!

While we were in Malaysia, we took 7 Grab rides totaling $47.82.
