A relaxing hike through Sa Pa, Vietnam
While earlier in our trip, we probably wouldn’t have paid for a guided tour, we were loving the affordable prices in southeast Asia and loving the experiences we were having, so we went ahead and spent $37.22 via our hotel to book a guided tour for both of us through the stunning rice paddies of Sa Pa and the village Lao Chải – with lunch included!
We did learn that if you want stunning lush green photos, you need to visit in June-Sept, prioritizing September if possible because it’s starting to cool down then, but is still lush green. In October, the rice terraces start turning yellow, so if you want a fall look, that would be the time to go. And by the end of it, Peter’s conclusion was that he would like to explore by bicycle if we came back (costs about $5 to rent).
After we finished our trek, we grabbed some more food, then hopped on a bus back to Hanoi. When we arrived, it was dark, but was still walked 1k to our hotel – the Family Transit Hotel ($16.03 for 1 night), before flying on to the Philippines the next day.
