In this episode, we rode a van/bus from Abu Dhabi up to Dubai and got a few travel tips from some locals – thank you! Without chatting with them, we would have missed one of our favorite places on our entire trip! (Coming up soon…)
After dropping our bags at our hotel, we started our exploration of Dubai at the Mall of the Emirates, where they have an indoor ski slope! They also had more incredible Christmas decorations.
Then we made our way over to the iconic sailboat shaped Burj al Arab Jumeirah Hotel, which is officially a 5-star hotel (since that is the highest hotel classification), but which has been referred to as a 7-star hotel/resort by some.
As part of our quest to get the best photos of this iconic resort, we wandered through Madinat Jumeirah, another 5-star resort, and found someone that recommended taking photos from Costa Coffee – definitely recommend – best spot/angle we found! Just to get an angle from the other side, we walked up to Jumeirah Beach and snapped a few more photos.
Then after waiting a few minutes in an air-conditioned bus stop, we took a bus down to the Dubai Marina, walked around enjoying the views of the boats, water, and more cool architecture. Along the walk, we stopped in a grocery store for some food.
Finally, we headed back to our hotel (Grand Heights Dubai Hotel – $78.71)to officially checkin, then hopped in an Uber out to the Global Village (next video/post).
