Take the scenic drive.
In this video we drove the coastal route along the Coromandel Peninsula. Along the way, we stopped at Mount Paku Summit lookout – a scenic view worth the hike.
Then we continued on to Hot Water Beach – where when you dig in the sand, the water below is hot! Others were digging but not finding any hot water. One person we talked to said she found it in the evening. So we just left. Maybe try stopping by in the evening.
Next, we considered hiking to Cathedral Cove Beach – where they filmed a scene for the Chronicles of Narnia, but ultimately decided to skip it this time.
