Searching for Thomas Kinkade Cottages

We love Thomas Kinkade paintings and I (Peter) really wanted to find some of those beautiful, quaint English cottages and villages that inspired a lot of Kinkade’s paintings. So we enjoyed a day full of scenic drives through some of the cutest English towns you can imagine…

In this video:

  • Visit Castle Cary for some breakfast from a bake shop + search a local cemetery to see if we can find any of Lisa’s ancestors…no luck this time.
  • Stop for a tour at Wells Cathedral
  • Quickly walk around Bristol (where two of Lisa’s ancestors served as sheriffs….waaaaay back in the day)
  • Tasted our first ever Fry’s Turkish Delight in the town where Fry’s got started.
  • Go for a hike in the woods
  • Explore Castle Combe – which Lisa dubbed the “most picturesque town”
  • Drive through the English Cotswolds and watch a homemade boat race in Bourton-on-the-Water (considered the Venice of the Cotswolds)
  • Arrive at the Blenheim Palace after closing time…so we’ll have to visit another time.
  • Rest up at a cozy hotel south of Birmingham – The Oak Hotel
